When I think of America, popcorn is one food that first pops into mind (no pun intended). Along with
pizza, cheeseburgers, and good ol’ chinese takeout. Wait, thats not American.. right?
As a kid, I spent my weekends inside watching Saturday nights Disney movie with a big bowl of popcorn.
This was before all kids ate were organic carrots and low fat hummus. To us, it was just good
old fashion popcorn.
Pinch of Sugar
Measure out 1/2 a cup of popcorn kernels. Trust me this will get you a lot. I used Orville Redenbacher.
In a large pot, pour in 3 tablespoons of oil. I prefer you use peanut oil, but canola/vegetable is fine.
Pour in the kernels..
And then about half a tablespoon of salt.
Have your flame on high, and cover the pot.
Now.. you just wait. Go on twitter or file your nails. This will take about 5 minutes.
See it popping! ^ No? Well I can!
Mmm after 5 minutes, or when the kernels stop popping, remove from heat.
Melt some butter (amount of your preference) and pour it on.
Then sprinkle on a teaspoon of cinnamon.. just for some kicks!
Place popcorn in a ziploc bag. Throw in a pinch of sugar, and a little more salt. Just eyeball it.
Now shake it up.
SO GOOD. Theres nothing better then homemade popcorn! Plus, you can choose not to add anything too it to shave off some calories.
Rent a movie, and pop some corn!
