First Look // Wendy’s new flatbreads

Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I can finally tell you all about this.

Member’ when I was in Ohio a couple of weeks ago? (insta’s can be seen here, here, and here) Yea, I can finally tell you why. 

I was contacted by Wendy’s not too long ago about heading out to their headquarters (along with 3 other awesome bloggers) to be some of the first to try out their two new sandwiches. Um, I know right? How freakin’ cool is that? Plus, it all was documented in a cute little video we shot that you can view here.

I have so many things to tell you about my experience and some really fun fun behind the scenes stuff, but thats for a different post, a different day.

Todays lets talk about flatbreads.

First up: Smoky Honey Mustard Flatbread Grilled Chicken :: Before I say anything, I need to say that I am such a honey mustard hater, and yet I lovvvvved the one that is on this flatbread. Like reeeally loved it. Licked my fingers loved it. And thats saying a lot since you guys know I’m thee pickiest eater on the face of this planet. It had a great smokey, yet sweet taste, and was such an awesome balance of flavor.

Also something I really liked – the actual flatbread itself. Made with rolled oats, flax seed, sesame seed, and cracked wheats, its virtually guilt free and so much better then anything else thats out there on the market. I appreciated this fact a lot! Its also equipped with tomato slices, a generous amount of grilled chicken strips, and a spring mix. Yes, a spring mix. Like.. the fancy kind.

Megan from chasingdavies was awesome enough to be the eating model.

Next up: Asiago Ranch Flatbread Grilled Chicken :: Probably my favorite out of the two since, well, there is bacon on it. And really? Obviously bacon makes everything better. This one is also equipped with that same (amazing) flatbread, sliced tomatoes, grilled chicken strips and the fancy spring mix. In addition, its also topped with ranch sauce, asiago cheese, and of course.. bacon.

Can we talk about extreme flavor for a minute? Because this was like an awesome flavor punch to the face. It just.. works. Really really well, and if we’re being honest here – I so totally felt like I was eating a salad the was wrapped in a flatbread. No complaints here.

Lori, the brains behind these two new flatbreads, was gracious enough to sit down with us and answer any questions we might have had.

After speaking with her, I found out that each of these flatbreads will be made fresh to order which I thought was a big deal. No pre-made sandwiches sitting around waiting for somebody to come along. Everything will be made on site, to order. Huge props for that.

I also like the fact that the flatbreads are low in sodium, low in saturated fat, and cholesterol-free. The grilled chicken is farm raised/cage-free which is also another big plus in my book.

Totally impressive, seriously.
Both of these flatbreads are now available at your local Wendy’s and I totally encourage you to go try them out. I was so impressed by the flavors and nutritional attention they both have and it was an honor to be able to try them out!
