We figured the only way to truly close out the year on Food and the City would be one last, final pizza post. Pizza is so dear to us, and if you’ve been following along for a bit you know its also so very dear to Food and the City. Some of our most popular posts have been pizza related, so it only seems right!
This pizza is light, delicious, and everything a classic pie should be. Plus its perfect for starting off the new year on the right foot! Which is with a lot of cheese.

simple tomato margherita pizza
1lb prepared pizza dough
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 large tomato, sliced
1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
2-3 torn basil leaves
Preheat your oven to 400.
Roll out your pizza dough onto a greased pizza pan and spread on your olive oil. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, and sprinkle on your black pepper.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is brown and bubbly. Top with fresh basil and enjoy! xo M
